Learn moreWhy plain text?
Word processors mix content and formatting – until every document looks slightly different. Sqritto keeps them apart: you write the content, the template takes care of the layout.
Fonts, spacing, letterhead and numbering come from the template. No stray formatting, no headings that are suddenly a different blue.
Typst sets your text with proper hyphenation, ligatures, kerning and balanced spacing – the quality of professional typesetting.
Plain text you can open with any editor, today and in twenty years. No proprietary format, no compatibility mode.
Every version is kept with a short note. Compare any two states side by side and restore with one click.
Variables and calculations are built in: an invoice totals its own line items, and Typst documents can read tables straight from CSV or JSON.
No account, no subscription, no cloud. Your letters, invoices and CVs stay on your computer.
Still need Word? If you exchange editable .docx files or track changes with colleagues, Word remains the right tool for that. For everything you write yourself and send as PDF, Sqritto is the calmer choice.
Invoices
Enter quantity and price for each line item – Sqritto calculates the net amount, the VAT for every rate and the total, and adds the due date and your bank details.

Good to know
For the documents you write yourself and share as PDF – letters, invoices, CVs, reports, manuals – yes, and most people find it calmer. Sqritto does not open or save .docx files and has no track changes, so if you need to exchange editable Word files with others, keep Word for that.
A little – about as much as for writing a good email. Letters and invoices are a short list of details plus your text; reports use Markdown. Every template comes with sample content that shows how it works, and the editor completes and checks what you type.
The letter template follows DIN 5008 forms A and B: address field for window envelopes, reference block, fold and punch marks, all measured from the edge of the sheet. Labels, date format and greeting are available in English and German.
Yes. Sqritto is open source under the Apache License 2.0 and free to use – privately and commercially. Templates, elements and the website runtime are released under MIT-0, so the documents you create are entirely yours, without attribution requirements.
On your computer, as plain folders in your workspace (by default Documents/Sqritto). Every document is a set of text files plus your images, which you can open with any editor, back up like any other folder and keep in Git.
Yes. sqritto build builds PDFs and websites without a window, for example in GitHub Actions, and sqritto serve runs the same interface as a server in your network, protected by an access token.
